Ryujinx Prod Keys
Ryujinx prod keys are required by the Ryujinx Nintendo Switch emulator to decrypt and run encrypted Switch games. Ryujinx is known for its high accuracy and strict cryptographic validation — it performs the most thorough key verification of any Switch emulator.
This means Ryujinx is more sensitive to missing or outdated keys than other emulators. If your prod.keys file is incomplete, incorrect, or from an older firmware version, Ryujinx will refuse to boot games and display clear error messages.

How to Install Prod Keys in Ryujinx
Place the prod.keys file in the Ryujinx system directory:
- Windows:
%APPDATA%/Ryujinx/system/prod.keys - macOS:
~/.config/Ryujinx/system/prod.keys - Linux:
~/.config/Ryujinx/system/prod.keys
Important: Ryujinx requires the file to be named exactly prod.keys — no additional extensions. After placing the file, open Ryujinx and check that it appears in the logs or settings under “Keys.”
Ryujinx Firmware Requirement
Ryujinx has a high firmware dependency. Unlike some other emulators, Ryujinx strongly recommends (and in many cases requires) firmware installation alongside prod keys. See our firmware guide for details.
Common Ryujinx Key Errors
- “Missing prod.keys” — File not found in the system directory
- “Failed to decrypt NCA” — Keys are outdated for the game version
- “System version mismatch” — Keys do not match the installed firmware
