Citron Prod Keys Guide
Citron is a modern Nintendo Switch emulator for Android, Windows, and Linux. Like all Switch emulators, Citron requires a valid prod.keys file to decrypt and play encrypted games. This guide covers everything you need to know about Citron prod keys, including download links, installation paths, and firmware requirements.
Download Citron Prod Keys
The same prod.keys file works across all Switch emulators. Visit our main download page for the latest prod keys version v22.1.0 and all older versions from v16.1.0 through v22.1.0.
Citron vs Other Emulators
Citron is a fork of Yuzu that focuses on performance optimization and Android compatibility. While the Citron prod keys are identical to those used by Yuzu, Suyu, Ryujinx, and Eden, the installation directory differs. You only need one prod.keys file — place it in the correct Citron folder for your platform.
How to Install Citron Prod Keys
Windows
- Download the
prod.keysfile from our download page - Open File Explorer and navigate to
%APPDATA%/citron/keys/ - Create the
keysfolder if it does not exist - Copy the
prod.keysfile into the folder - Launch Citron and your games should now be playable
Linux
- Download the
prod.keysfile - Navigate to
~/.local/share/citron/keys/ - Create the
keysfolder if needed - Place the
prod.keysfile in the folder - Restart Citron
Android
- Download the
prod.keysfile on your device - Open your file manager and go to
Internal Storage/Citron/keys/ - Place the
prod.keysfile in the folder - Open Citron — it will automatically detect the keys
Citron Firmware Requirements
Most commercial games require both prod keys and the matching Nintendo Switch firmware. Citron supports firmware versions from 16.1.0 through the latest v22.1.0. See our firmware guide for details on matching firmware to prod keys.
Citron Encryption Keys
If you see an error about missing encryption keys or Citron encryption keys, it means the prod.keys file is missing, in the wrong location, or outdated. Always use the latest prod.keys file from our download page and ensure it is placed in the correct directory for your platform.
